When it comes to exercise - we all need it, both dogs and people. A Dog must go for walks if he is to remain healthy and happy.
Naturally the amount of walking required varies between breeds and the individual dog. However whatever the weather a walk is his greatest joy - but sometimes not so much for you, especially in the pouring rain.
I guess the deal is that when owning a dog you have struck a bargain with him. Your side of things is to give him exercise when wanted and needed, it seems to me that this is a pretty trivial price to pay for eternal friendship.
Actually I've pretty much always enjoyed dog walks myself, I consider it a great time for reflection - a quiet time for myself, not much distracted by the dog who is generally very happy amusing himself sniffing here and there and running around after who knows what.
