The Paradise Whydah

The Paradise Whydah is found in many parts of Africa, the male has a very long ornamental tail.

They mostly frequent thorny trees and the higher bushes, of which they prefer the bare tops. The Paradise Whydahs are not entirely what you'd call an active bird, doubtless held back by their magnificent tails.

Their song is remarkable for its monotony, a somewhat flutelike chirp that is not particularly loud.
