The Painted Finch

The Painted Finch is a native of North and Central Australia, the general coloring is a pale brown, with scarlet coverts which are visually very striking, the hen is similiar except she has no scarlet on theneck and chest.

These birds are rare and are hard to rear in the aviary or cage, although it is naturally tempting, as like with many Australian Finches they are very appealing.
