Nonpareil Bunting

The Nonpareil Bunting is a very beautiful finch which is found throughout the southern states of the usa, through the Central Americas and the Caribbean Islands. Which is a blessing as this little bird is truly lovely to behold.

The female is duller in her plumage and if kept out of bright sunlight they loose their red coat and it turns yellow.

The Nonpareil Bunting has a song that is gentle and sweet, as melodious as any of the finches, and I've got to quote this from a c.19^th guide book to cage birds ...

“ ... would make a far more suitable pet for a nervous old lady than a Canary ”
