The Long Tailed Whydah

The Long Tailed Whydah is from Southern Africa and has been found in great abundance in the past

An old explorer in the 1890s wrote:-

“One of the commonest birds in the upper portions of the colony. They roost in hundreds or even thousands, in the reedy valleys, flock after flock of them pouring in from all sides about sundown, til the whole place is alive with them”
